PTSA/PRIDE Booster Club

BACKGROUND: Parents formed the Paul Revere Booster Club (Paul Revere Interest Development Enrichment) in 1982 to help fund projects and programs that school staff and parents identified as important to the learning environment at Paul Revere Middle School.

$

The PRIDE Board of Directors is staffed with volunteers. Every dollar raised is used to fund ongoing programs such as music and technology, or to begin new ones, such as the unique Outdoor Learning Environment, After-School Sports or a Teacher Resource Center. PRIDE encourages parents to get involved by volunteering on one of our fundraising and/or enrichment committees. MISSION STATEMENT

PRIDE, our parent led booster club, and the PTSA raise the funds necessary to support programs that impact our students, teachers, administrators and staff. Collectively we aim to compliment our library, technology, music, drama, arts and physical education programs. We strive to maintain and beautify our campus surroundings. We reach out and communicate with our parent body by publishing the monthly REVER RIDER, E-Mail Blasts and the DIRECTORY.

Our success is only limited by the funds we raise and your volunteer support. If you would like to participate in PRIDE/PTSA programs or fundraising, please contact us.

COUNCIL

"Paul Revere Middle School proudly announces that we will be welcoming back The Council Program for our third year.  If you haven't yet heard about Council, we'd like to give you a little bit of information about the Program. Council is a communication tool, deep listening practice, and a fun way for students to share their stories with their classmates-and we have spent the last two years including this in classrooms, in Staff meetings, in Parent gatherings, in the Counseling Department, and in a variety of other ways.  Council is not Counseling.  Council provides students the opportunity to sit together in a circle to celebrate important events, make significant decisions, explore conflict resolution, find answers to questions, and generally connect with one another-and this is at the heart of Council.  It is also important to note that Council can easily be tied into the curriculum for any class.

Revere will be training a new group of teachers this year to continue the commitment we have made to honor and respect all voices on campus.  We welcome parents to participate in our Parent Councils which will be announced soon.  Please check "The Rider" for further updates.

Angel Honda, Site Coordinator for Revere, and Natalie White, Site Consultant for LAUSD's "Council Practitioners Center".

SUPERSTAR

When students get caught doing something good on campus, they receive a raffle ticket from a teacher, administrator or parent lunch supervisor.  Twice a week, raffle tickets are pulled and winners are announced.  Students generally receive small prizes, $5 gift certificates to stores.  Once a month two lucky students receive grand prizes, usually about $100 in value, like an iPod or DVD player.  Help continue this positive reinforcement.  Please donate prizes big or small!  Contact Allison Polhill 310-459-6202 or email lucius.allison@verizon.net.
