HOMEWORK AND GRADES
Homework - Homework is an essential element to success in school and should be completed on time. Students should have a "study buddy or homework buddy" to call when absent for one to three days. It is the student's responsiblity to request homework and turn in late homework.
o Requesting Homework when you are absent
Parents may only request homework if a student is absent for more than three days. Contact the Counseling Office to request homework. Please allow the office 24hours to collect homework for you. Requested homework must be picked up in the Counseling Office (not faxed).
o Homework Calendars for teachers
Textbooks should be covered at all times. For a listing of current textbooks, click here.
Daily Progress Sheet - Daily progress Sheets can be used to monitor your student's progress daily on a class by class basis for attendance, homework, work habits and cooperation. "Daily's" should be filled out before school by your student, handed to the teacher at the beginning of the period and picked up by the student at the end of class. TIPS: staple five together for the week & after three COMPLETE weeks, try Weekly Progress Sheets.
Weekly Progress Sheet - Similar to the daily progress report, Weekly Progress Sheets are circulated weekly by the student, with an additional place for an academic grade. "Weekly's" should be filled out before school by your student, handed to the teacher at the beginning of the period and picked up by the student at the end of class. TIPS: circulate a "Weekly" on Thursday, just in case you need Friday to finish.
Daily Planner - The daily planner contains all the information that you and your student will need to know about school with regards to procedures, expections and rules. In addition, it includes a daily planner for students to write and track their assignments daily. Getting your planner filled out everyday can be a great incentive for students to do better and keep organized.
PROGRAMS FROM THE COUNSELING OFFICE
Student of the Month
From September through May, teachers and staff are able to honor a student who has demonstrated excellence in the area of academics and/or character. At the end of each month, a special ceremony is held and students are recognized with a celebration breakfast, certificate, and bumper sticker.
Pyramid of Success
John Wooden's "Pyramid of Success" is a character building program incorporated into our students' daily planner. On select Mondays of each month, students will learn about a different block of the pyramid. A DVD is shown and individuals of various backgrounds are highlighted, along with their careers that demonstrate characteristics such as enthusiasm, self-control, and confidence. Discussions emphasize these qualities as students are encouraged to develop character for life.
Academic Decathalon
Paul Revere Middle School proudly announces that we will be welcoming back The Council Program for our Third Year. If you haven’t yet heard about Council, we’d like to give you a little bit of information about the Program. Council is a communication tool, a deep listening practice, and a fun way for students to share their stories with their classmates—and we have spent the last two years including this in classrooms, in Staff meetings, in Parent gatherings, in the Counseling Department, and in a variety of other ways. Council is not Counseling. Council provides students the opportunity to sit together in circle to celebrate important events, make significant decisions, explore conflict resolution, find answers to questions, and generally connect with one another—and this is at the heart of Council. It is also important to note that Council can easily be tied into the curriculum for any class. Reverewill be training a new group of teachers this year to continue the commitment we have made to honor and respect all voices on campus. We welcome parents to participate in our Parent Councils which will be announced soon. Please check ‘The Rider’ for further updates.
