CHARTER COUNCIL COMMITTEES Paul Revere encourages active parent involvement in the school’s governing Council. As a member of a Charter Council Committee you can effectively improve your child’s learning environment and overall educational experience. Each committee is responsible for developing policy for a specific area of concern which is then submitted to the Council for discussion and approval. The dates and times of the individual meetings are determined by each committee. We invite you to join any of the committees: Student Affairs: Creates positive conduct reinforcement and awards programs. Calendar: Review, recommends, and finalizes the monthly school master calendar. Parent Involvement: Discuss, recommends, and review current/new school policies and procedures. Budget/School Improvement: Recommends the use of funds available to Revere. Staff/Professional Development: Recommends curriculum focus. Technology: Responsible for all technological acquisition decisions. PTSA OFFICERS AND EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITIONS President: Conducts all PTSA meetings and coordinates PTSA-sponsored events. Secretary: Records and submits the minutes of monthly PTSA meetings. Treasurer: Collects and deposits all monies, writes all checks, and submits monthly report. Reflections Chair: October/November; National PTA contest based on predetermined theme, circulate, collect, judge and present awards. Parking Lot Event Chair: February; coordinate volunteers for parking fundraiser on campus in conjunction with the US Open at the Riviera Country Club. PRIDE BOOSTER CLUB BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS President: Oversees fundraising, programs and the budget. Communicates with PTSA and school administration. Schedules and conducts meetings; represents PRIDE to the community and at meetings external to Paul Revere. Together with the Executive Board, sets the direction and establishes goals for the organization. VP - Fundraising: Oversees PRIDE’s fundraising programs. Establishes fundraising goals and identifies new opportunities. Recruits volunteers for these activities, monitors progress and assists in resolving issues or concerns. VP - Programs: Oversees PRIDE’s programs and support activities. Identifies new programs as needed. Assists Committee Chairs in establishing budgets and monitors expenditures relative to budget. Recruits volunteers and assists in communication and in resolving issues or concerns. Director of Communications: Coordinates production and distribution of PRIDE-sponsored monthly newsletter, “The Revere Rider.” Oversees Public Relations for PRIDE, submits articles to local papers and provides information to the community on request. Identifies other communication vehicles to parents and the community. Director of Outreach: Serves as primary liaison between parents, teachers and PRIDE. Assists in recruiting parent volunteers, oversees 6th Grade Room Parent program, SOS (Send Over Supplies) and coordinates funding requests from teachers. Discusses teacher requests with school administration and PRIDE Executive Board and makes recommendations. Treasurer: Keeps account of the properties and business transactions of the organization. Collects, deposits and disburses funds as approved by the Committee Chairs and Executive Board. Prepares a written financial report for review by the Board and at monthly meetings. Prepares annual budget with input from the Executive Board and Committee Chairs. Monitors inflows and expenditures relative to budget. Provides financial information to outside accounting firm for tax and audit purposes. Secretary: Keeps minutes and records attendance at Board and monthly meetings and distributes. Maintains calendar of meetings and communicates to administration. Parliamentarian: Advises the Board regarding parliamentary procedure. Ensures By-Laws are followed. Revises By-Laws as requested and submits to Board for approval.
STANDING COMMITTEES: Annual Giving Campaign: Organizes and coordinates annual fundraising campaign that solicits donations directly from parent community. Develop solicitation letters, reminders and coordinate follow-up phone calls. Auction & Dinner: Organizes annual fundraising dinner and silent auction. Selects site, solicit donations and arrange event. E-Scrip: Organizes and promotes electronic scrip fund-raising program. Grant-Writing: Researches available grant opportunities. Collect information and prepare grant proposals. Solicits input from teachers and administration. After-School Sports: Oversees After-School Sports program. Selects coaches, sets schedules and organizes competitions. Coordinates closely with administration. Field Trips: Coordinates with teachers and administration to organize field trips appropriate to each grade level. Communicates with destinations and organizes transportation. Music/Drama Liaison: Coordinates with music department to identify funding needs and facilitate programs and events. Assists in developing drama program, either after-school and/or as an elective. Assists in finding teachers and coordinating productions. School Beautification/Outdoor Classroom: Coordinates with teachers and administration to help maintain outdoor classroom and life science facilities and to beautify campus grounds. Identifies funding needs, arrange volunteer support and organize school clean-up days. Peer Mediation: Facilitates Peer Mediation Program. Works with teachers to publicize program, identify funding needs and raise visibility and effectiveness of program that trains student volunteers to help mediate peer disputes. 6th Grade Room Parents: Coordinates parent volunteers from each 6th grade homeroom to organize classroom roster and parent get-together and to facilitate teacher needs. Art Liaison: Coordinates with Revere Art Department to identify funding needs and coordinate displays and events. Technology: Interfaces with school Technology Coordinator to provide support and identify funding needs. Oversees development and maintenance of PRIDE-sponsored website and other technology needs. Campus Safety: Coordinates with the administration to organize parent volunteers on campus for greater supervision. Identifies other opportunities to increase safety and safety awareness.
