Happy 2021 Revere Families!Posted by Lori Vogel on 1/14/2021
Happy 2021 Revere Families!! The second semester is under way, who can believe half the year is over already. Seems like just yesterday we were starting the year with hopes students would be returning to campus sooner rather than later. As we begin the second semester there is no concrete date for the return of our students to the Revere campus. I will keep you posted should anything change.
Spring Daily Schedule
There have been a few adjustments by the District to your child’s daily schedule. This was done to address the concerns by some that students needed more face, to face, time with their teachers. Monday – Thursday now ends at 2:45 rather than 2:15, and Friday’s still end at 12:10 but with increased synchronous instruction for all students. The new weekly schedule can be found on the school website. @Paulreverems.com
I wish to remind all 7th grade families that all immunizations must be up to date before your child can come back on campus. When campus is reopened any student, whose immunizations are not current will not be permitted back on campus. Please make sure your child is current with their immunizations. In addition, there was a mention about students needing to be immunized for COVID 19, as of today there is no official word from the District on this being a requirement. I will update all families when I have more information about the COVID vaccination requirements.
Monthly Counseling Office Parent Meetings
For the second semester our fantastic counseling staff will be holding monthly parent informational meeting on the first Wednesday of each month. These meeting are designed to keep our families in the loop about current campus events, issues, and supports. All parent meetings are held at 7:00pm in the Webinar format on zoom. The next meeting is scheduled for February 10. For future dates please check our Revere website’s calendar.
No School Monday
In observance of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. birthday, school will be closed Monday, January 18. There will be no online class, online instruction will resume Tuesday, the 19th.
Revere will host a prospective student/parent tour on Thursday, January 21st at 9am. Registration instructions can be found on the homepage of the Revere website.
Happy Holidays Revere FamiliesPosted by Lori Vogel on 12/18/2020 8:00:00 AM
As we say good-bye to the year that was 2020, (and oh what a year it was) I look back on the last 5 months and marvel at all your children have accomplished. Last March they had to pivot and learn to adapt to a whole new way of learning. I am so impressed by what I see every day I enter a teacher’s zoom session and watch and listen to your children. They never disappoint me in their resiliency and spirit.
Return to Campus
We all know that the best place for your children to learn is in a classroom on the Revere campus. But as I am writing this Principals update the District has informed me that there are no plans to return students on campus in January. We will continue with online instruction for the opening of the Spring semester.
Pupil Free Day
Please remember that the first day of classes for the Spring semester has changed. Classes will not start until Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Teachers will be in trainings Monday, January 11 rather than instructing your children online. All online instruction will start Tuesday the 12th.
District Grading Policy
As of Monday, December 14, the Los Angeles Unified School District informed all schools that students who were currently Failing any class as of this Friday, December 18, 2020 would be given an opportunity to bring that failing grade up. Teachers are to give students a form which the family needs to fill out and return to that teacher indicating the families wish that the Failing student be given extended time to raise their grade. Some teachers will be making themselves available over the break to support those students. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if they are receiving a Fail for more information.
We Say Good–Bye to John Weggler
Today marks the last day Revere will be lucky enough to call Mr. John Weggler a member of their teaching staff. After over 20 years as a member of Revere’s Special Education department John is retiring from the school district. John and the late Deena Booth created and developed Revere's High Functioning Autism program which over the years allowed countless numbers of high functioning children with Autism to thrive on the Revere campus. So, we say good–bye to a dedicated educator and advocate for exceptional children. All the best John.
Principal's Weekly UpdatePosted by Lori Vogel on 12/11/2020 10:00:00 AM
Happy Holiday Season Revere families, I hope the next few weeks bring everyone Peace, Happiness, and Joy. It has been quite a first semester for everyone, I am not sorry to see this first virtual Fall semester come to an end. Traditionally these last few weeks would have had Holiday performances from our Music department, staff holiday breakfast and lunch have been missed. What a year.
Next week will be our last week of instruction, classes officially end Friday, December 18. Second Semester will begin Monday, January 11.
With our office and plant staff health and welfare in mind our campus is currently closed. Office staff is currently working from home, if you need their assistance please continue to email or call the schools main line, they will respond. We are limited in what assistance we can provide some items may have to wait until staff is permitted to return to campus. All office staff will be on Winter Break as of Friday, December 18, at 3:00pm. No emails or phone calls will be returned until their return on the 11th of January.
I wish to thank Mr. Bilek and Leadership for organizing and promoting School Spirit Week activities. This was a great opportunity to promote the Revere community and school pride. I hope our teachers and students had fun with Crazy Hair Day, Bring your Pet to Advisory, and Sports day just to mention a few activities. Thank you Leadership for all your hard work and commitment to Revere.
A student survey was sent out on Thursday, December 10, through Schoology. Please make sure your child completes this survey. It is important to the school Administrative team to know how your child feels about their first semester experience so we can better plan for the Spring semester.
Can Food Drive
I am happy to report that the Community Service Clubs Can Food Drive has raised almost $9,000 for the West Side Food Bank. Thank you, Mr. Slavin and Community Service Club for organizing this important event. Thank you Revere families for supporting those amongst us who are in need this holiday season.
Be well, be safe

As of today, we have just 10 more school days in the Fall 2020 semester. Season of Giving
Again; this year Reveres Community Service Club will be holding their annual “Can Food Drive” but instead of donating cans, we’re running an online fundraiser to support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, our usual beneficiary. Please feel free to share the donation link far and wide. We’d be so grateful for your support! As of today, Revere families have donated over $8,000 in the support of those who need our help most. Please help make a difference in someone’s holidays by giving, no donation is to small.
Please remember to be safe and be well.
